Prof. Kaija Saranto is Professor Emerita in Health and Human Services Informatics at the University of Eastern Finland, where she was a full professor and started as programme director of the master's and doctoral programmes in the field. Her research groups work on health data analytics, shared decision making, virtual care and patient safety.
She is a past president of the Finnish Health Informatics Association and a past International Taskforce Liaison for the HIMSS TIGER Committee. She is an elected Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics and of the American Academy of Nursing, and an inaugural Fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics.
