While Digital Health evolves rapidly, the education and training of specialists in the field continues to lag behind. What’s more, there is a troubling lack of curriculum consistency on the international level. To bridge this knowledge and personnel gap, Prof. Dr. Georgi Chaltikyan and colleagues from several key institutions established the Master of Digital Health (MDH) Alliance.

Its founding Declaration was subsequently adopted by the Alliance's task force and main partners during the "DigiHealthDayS-2025" congress, hosted by the European Campus of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT). The participating universities, professional associations, and industry stakeholders are working across national borders to promote key qualifications in digital health, chief among them the eponymous MDH degree.

Twelve partners have now signed the joint Declaration. They represent universities, professional associations, and companies from the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Armenia.

According to the signatories, a coordinated international initiative is essential for training a workforce capable of ensuring patient-secure, digitally supported healthcare. The Alliance views the Master of Digital Health degree as the premier pathway for developing the requisite expertise: the aim therefore is to offer this degree within an internationally standardized and recognized framework.

The idea for the MDH Alliance was introduced by Prof. Dr. Georgi Chaltikyan in early 2025 and is based on his long-standing vision of a globally recognized and harmonized MDH degree. "In the long term, the MDH should become for the field of Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence in healthcare what the Master of Public Health is today for global and public health: an internationally recognized degree with common quality standards opening up comparable qualifications and career prospects worldwide," explains Prof. Dr. Chaltikyan.
