International week

Intercultural. International. Inspiring.

The International Week at Deggendorf Institute of Technology is a yearly event that brings together students, staff, and guests from around the world to promote cultural exchange and global collaboration.

A highlight of the week is Taste the World, where international students share traditional dishes from their home countries – a unique chance to explore global cultures through flavor and storytelling.

Another key event is the Erzählcafé, where personal experiences across cultures are shared in an open, conversational setting. These stories offer valuable insights into life abroad, identity, and connection.

International Week invites everyone to discover new perspectives, build international networks, and celebrate the diversity that enriches our campus.

host family programme

Programme description

The Host Family Program connects people from the region (whether families, couples, or individuals) with international students at THD. The program’s goal is to foster cultural and linguistic exchange, build new friendships, and enjoy leisure activities together. At the same time, it gives students insight into local culture and helps them settle into a new country more quickly.
Meetings between hosts and students are arranged on an individual basis; possible activities include day trips in the region, cooking together, or spending time together in the host families’ homes.
Note on housing: The Host Family Program is not a traditional host family model. Students live in their own apartments in and around Deggendorf. Meetings take place exclusively for shared activities.

Read a personal report in the university blog, written by one of our Deggendorf students who enjoyed her host family in Deggendorf.
