Campus Cham offers an international atmosphere with around 850 students from over 40 countries and focuses on innovative degree programmes in mechatronics, robotics and artificial intelligence. The bachelor's degree programme with two specialisations in mechatronics and project management, as well as four master's programmes in the forward-looking fields of AI, sensor technology, production management and robotics, offer continuous career prospects.
Intelligent production – the DIT's technology transfer centre since 2010 – has established itself as a pioneer in the fields of additive manufacturing, automation and AI image processing. With state-of-the-art laboratories and strong cooperation with industry, forward-looking ideas are developed here – most recently, projects focusing on topology-optimised design, SLS/SLM, simulation, data analysis and algorithm programming have been successfully implemented.
The Intelligent Robotics Technology Transfer Centre is divided into the areas of stationary and mobile robotics. Here, collaborative, industrial and cable-driven robotics are researched and the development of grippers and gripper sensor technology is advanced. Mobile robotics focuses on autonomous systems and driverless transport systems. In addition, topics such as AI-supported robotics, reinforcement learning, object recognition and adaptive control engineering are dealt with intensively.
The combination of our research focuses enables us to address interdisciplinary topics and enrich questions from a wide range of industries with supporting solutions based on state-of-the-art technologies. One example of this is assistive robotics – an exciting field that focuses on the development of robots that support people with disabilities or limitations in their everyday lives and improve their independence and quality of life.
The unique selling point of Campus Cham is the close interaction between teaching and research, as well as intensive cooperation with industry – both regionally and nationally. This synergy makes it possible to put theoretical knowledge directly into practice and develop innovative solutions that meet the current requirements of the economy. Students and researchers alike benefit from this practical training and the diverse opportunities for collaboration with leading companies.
