The undergraduate programme "Mechatronics and Project Management for Digital Production"  combines practice-oriented teaching imparting scientific knowledge on mechatronics.

Based on the fundamentals of engineering sciences, the focus on digital production deepens specific knowledge of modern automation technology, robotics, networked systems (cloud computing, network communication) and digital methods in production. The programme thus takes into account the so-called "digital transformation" in the industry (key word: Industry 4.0).

In the undergraduate programme "Mechatronics and Project Management for Digital Production" (7 semesters and 210 credits), all lectures are conducted at Campus Cham.

A special feature is the opportunity to study this bachelor's degree course in cooperation with a regional company -  this is not a requirement, though.

The student service fees are financed by the company and students receive a corresponding company-specific training allowance. Students are thus given the opportunity to integrate into the company structures and processes at an early stage.

This course of study comprises six theoretical semesters as well as one practical semester and concludes with the academic degree Bachelor of Engineering - B. Eng.

career prospects

The interdisciplinary undergraduate programme "Mechatronics and Project Management for Digital Production" aims at providing education based on scientific knowledge and methods through practice-oriented teaching.

Building on the fundamentals of engineering sciences, the programme's focus on Digital Production deepens specific knowledge of modern automation technology, robotics, networked systems (cloud computing, network communication) and digital methods in production. The programme takes into account both the internationalisation of study operations as well as the so-called "industrial digital transformation" (Industry 4.0).

Training takes place exclusively on Campus Cham. Owing to the interdisciplinary character of this training, graduates are to be enabled to work independently as engineers within the field of mechatronic systems.

This course aims at equipping students to carry out engineering activities in the following fields:

  •     Development (conception, design, calculation, simulation and construction of hardware/software for mechatronic systems)
  •     Fabrication
  •     Quality Assurance
  •     Sales (customer consulting and project management)
  •     Assembly, Commissioning and Service
  •     Operation and Maintenance
  •     Monitoring and Assessment

How do you benefit from absolving this undergraduate programme?

  •     cost savings: a training contract is concluded with an industrial partner for the duration of the course. This industrial partner assumes costs of the student service fees and pays a monthly training allowance.
  •     early contact with potential future employers: during the semester break, students already work in the employer's company and thus acquire practical, operational procedures and detailed technical knowledge.
  •     close integration of theory and practice: at Campus Cham, training rooms and laboratories are located in close proximity. Practical parts of the training can be easily integrated into the teaching operation.
  •  small study groups: compared to conventional universities, this study course with in-depth practice takes place in small study groups with intensive supervision.
  • modern teaching and learning methods: classes take place in modern seminar rooms on Campus Cham.

student case studies

Profile

In addition to classic lectures, there is also the dynamic concept of case studies in our four master's programmes and the practical "Project Module" in this bachelor's programme. Here, student working groups are formed to deal with a specific research topic in an application-oriented manner during the semester. As part of the bachelor's "Project Module", a driverless transport system has been implemented that autonomously travels to defined stations, e.g. loaded with tools.
